Welcome to COR K-9

At COR K-9 each training program is customized for the individual dog and owner. All training is based off a balanced scale of motivation, correction and praise. In the beginning of training, one part of the scale may not be balanced, but as the dog goes on with his/her training processes the scale will balance out as the dog begins to understand what we want from him/her. Motivation is meant to have feeling and is used to encourage the dog to achieve the desired behavior. Praise lets the dog know you appreciate his/her efforts. The praise should have genuine feeling and can include a physical touch but the speed, placement, and how long the touch is given, is important.  Correction is used to communicate to the dog that the behavior he/she is doing is not the desired one; it does not mean “bad dog” it simply means stop what you are doing and pay attention to me. A correction should be fair and effective. The dog’s response to the correction will determine its effectiveness. In order to determine the proper approach that needs to be taken with your dog, I will need to do an evaluation. The evaluation will provide the trainer with the proper information to set up a training program for your dog.
